Plant Life in First Grade

For the past few weeks we have been learning about the parts of plants and what they need to live.  On Friday of this week, we will plant and care for our own Marigold flowers.  It will be exciting to help take care of God's creations!

Rosaries to Honor Mary

Last week, we created rosaries for us to use in the month of October.

"The month of October each year is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. This is primarily due to the fact that the liturgical Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7th. It was instituted to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful." (stcyprian.org)

Come see our rosaries at Open House on September 29th, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm!

Back in the Groove

As the weeks have passed, we have all gotten back into the habits of going to school.  Things are going well.  In English, we are learning about sentences, In math, we are reviewing adding and learning new strategies to solve problems, and in science, we are studying plants and animals.  In spelling and reading, we are reviewing what we learned last year from Mrs. Kramer and we will soon start moving on to first grade content  - and spelling tests!
