A Rare Event...

We have been doing a lot of preparation for the upcoming solar eclipse.  See below for a few of our activities!

First, we pretended our heads were the Earth and held up a small moon between us and the sun drawn on the board.  We were able to see how the moon will move between the Earth and the sun to cause an eclipse.

Next, we put on short skits explaining the positions and movements of the Earth, moon, and sun during an eclipse.

And of course, I provided eclipse themed snacks during recess:  Sun Chips, Cosmic Brownies, and Capri Suns!

We also presented our "Me Bags" today, so we could all get to know each other a little better...

What a Great Start!

Yesterday was our first day of school and I'm so excited to spend this school year with the wonderful kiddos in my class!  They are a funny, intelligent bunch and I can tell we're going to have a fabulous year in K/1!
