What a Great First Week!

On August 16th, I had the privilege of welcoming my new first graders and their families to our classroom!  I cannot wait for how great the rest of this year is going to be!

Mr. Monti and the school mascot, the Jaguar, stopped by for a few pictures as well!

When I went to give the class a snack to celebrate the first day, we discovered that a gingerbread man had stolen them and had hidden clues throughout the school as to where we could find them!  We hunted all over the campus and finally found that he had returned them to our classroom while we were out. Silly gingerbread man!

We had the best first day!

To get to know the kiddos a bit better, I asked each of them to bring in a "Me Bag", filled with objects that told about themselves.  I learned a lot about these fascinating children!

This week, we also completed a math "Write the Room" activity, where students had to find cards with different numbers of cubes on them hidden around the classroom.  Once they located the card, they had to count the cubes and record the number on their clipboard.

We also studied liberty, our pledge, and our flag in Social Studies.  We rounded out the week by making our own American flags!

Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
