Adding is Fun!

Hello, All!
Last week, First Grade used counters, tens frames, and bingo dabbers to practice the "Make a Ten" addition strategy.  They really loved using the bingo dabbers!

In Spanish class, we have all been learning about El Dia de los Muertos.  Grades 2-4 created "ofrendas" or altars to remember those loved ones who have passed on.  K-1 is creating a Dia de los Muertos puzzle and mini-book.

Rock, Shake, and Rosary

This week in science, First Grade used balance scales to weigh and balance rocks we found in the prayer garden.

We also participated in the Great Central U.S. Shakeout by practicing emergency procedures for an earthquake.

We also honored our Mother, Mary by praying the rosary with Father Stan.

The children entered the church before any of the adults and immediately went to kneel in front of the altar without being told to.  We were going to have them sit in the pews.  It was a heart-warming moment!

It's Pumpkin Time!

On Thursday, Pre-K through Third Grade had the joy of visiting Braeutigam's Orchards.  We had a great time playing in their awesome playground, picking beautiful pumpkins, learning about the animals from Farmer Dan, and enjoying delicious apple cider. A perfect fall day!

When we returned to school First Grade worked diligently on the pumpkins Ms. Hurst picked for them.  What beautiful creations!
