On Tuesday, we celebrated the 150th Anniversary of St. John's Parish! We started out the day right with a special Mass, then headed to the gym where the 3rd and 4th graders had set up the Ellis Island experience some of our predecessors had gone through.
The children started out in "steerage", while the majority of the teachers rode First Class.
We saw the Statue of Liberty as we approached New York City...
then had our passports stamped.
We were then made to stand in line to wait for medical checks.
Next, was legal inspection...
and currency exchange.
We finally made it through and were welcomed to New York!
In the afternoon, the seventh and eighth graders showed us games children would have played 150 years ago.
What a fun day!
